Breakthrough in Affordable Fertility Care: First pregnancies after using a simplified IVF system in a mobile IVF laboratory
For the first time, four ongoing pregnancies have been confirmed following treatment using a simplified IVF system inside a mobile laboratory.
This innovative mobile clinic concept uses a cost-effective IVF system developed by The Walking Egg npo. During the pilot in South Africa, eggs were retrieved at a local IVF clinic, fertilized and cultured in the mobile lab, and successfully transferred back to the patients. Out of ten treated women, five tested positive for pregnancy — with four ongoing singleton pregnancies.
This development brings new hope to millions of couples worldwide struggling with infertility who currently lack access to assisted reproductive technologies due to high costs and limited availability.
